Call for bilateral SAV – DAAD (Germany) project proposals for the period 2025 – 2026

The Slovak Academy of Sciences opens a call for submission of joint bilateral SAV – DAAD scientific cooperation projects for the years 2025 – 2026.

General conditions:

  • Joint exchange programme for scientists and university teachers between the Ministry of Education, Science, Research and Sport of the Slovak Republic, the Slovak Academy of Sciences and the German Academic Exchange Service (Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst – DAAD), aimed at intensifying scientific cooperation between the Slovak Republic and Germany.
  • The programme is open to all specialisations and fields of study and is a mobility type of programme.
  • The applicant from the Slovak Academy of Sciences must find a German partner organisation with which to submit the project.
  • The amount of support in SAV for one project team for one year is EUR 4,000, i.e. for two years it is EUR 8,000 in total. The project funding will be allocated in early 2025 to the Principal Investigator and his/her team through his/her organisation.
  • Travel, subsistence and food expenses related to the travel of Slovak scientists in Germany may be covered. Insurance and public transport in Germany are also eligible costs.   • The applicant is the person in charge of the project (principal investigator), in addition to him/her, up to two secondary investigators can be members of the team.
  • The duration of the projects is limited to 2 years, with no possibility of extension.
  • The projects will be evaluated by independent evaluators and the relevant committee separately on the German and Slovak side. The final decision on the funding of the projects is the responsibility of a joint committee between DAAD, SAV and the Ministry of Education and Science of the Slovak Republic.
  • The decision on the number of projects to be supported depends on the possibilities of the DAAD and the quality of the projects submitted. SAV can support a maximum of 4 projects per year.
  • In particular, the content of the project, the consistency between the stated objectives and the results of the project, the overall impact of the project, the added value of the bilateral cooperation and the quality of the research group (inclusion of young researchers) will be assessed.
  • At least 1/3 of the team must be made up of young researchers or PhD students. The researchers in charge of the project must submit a progress report and a financial report for each year of the project.
  • Project proposals must be submitted in English by the deadline exclusively via the intranet online application form with the uploaded attachment – Application form SAV – DAAD.
  • In order to submit a project proposal, it is first necessary to download the attachment – Application form DAAD-SAS from the call for proposals, fill in the whole form (in agreement with the partner institution), save it on your computer in pdf format. Then you need to log in to the SAV intranet, select the SAV-DAAD call, fill in the online application form and upload the pdf attachment – Application form DAAD-SAS. Once entered and uploaded, the project proposal will be forwarded to the Director/Manager of the SAV organisation for approval. The project proposal approved by the Director will be automatically forwarded to the International Cooperation Department of the SAS Office. All project proposals must be approved/submitted by the Director(s) of the SAV organisations by 28 June 2024 at the latest.
