The Institute of Philosophy of the Slovak Academy of Sciences cordially invites you to a public lecture by distinguished American philosopher Scott F. Aikin from Vanderbilt University (Nashville, USA) entitled Is Pragmatism an Answer to Deep Disagreement?
Professor Aikin’s research focuses on epistemology, argumentation theory, pragmatism, and ancient philosophy. He is the author of numerous scholarly publications on deep disagreement, argumentative fallacies, and political argumentation.
The lecture will take place on 22 October 2026 at 2:00 p.m. in Room G239 (Scientific Council Meeting Room), Faculty of Arts, Comenius University in Bratislava, Gondova 2.
The event is organized within the framework of the SAS Mobility Visit Programme and is open to all interested participants. The lecture will be held in English.
