 Open call SAS – RSE Edinburgh

The Slovak Academy of Sciences announces the call for submission of application for 1 bilateral exchange visit under the International Bilateral Visits Program with the Royal Society of Edinburgh for the year 2027.

Call schedule:

2 September 2026Announcement of the call
21 October 2026Deadline for submission of applications
November 2026Completion of the assessment at both national and international level
December 2026  Comparison and approval of results by both partner organizations
After January 1, 2027Implementation of the approved exchange visits

General terms and conditions for the submission of applications:

  • The mutually agreed exchange quota is 1 visit from SAS do Scotland and vice versa per each call, while the duration of the exchange visit may not exceed 14 days.
  • Conditions for the funding of exchange visits: the sending Party (in Slovakia: SAS, in Scotland: RSE Edinburgh) covers all and any costs related to the exchange visit, i. e. travel costs and health insurance, accommodation and daily allowances (per diem).
  • Furthermore, the applicants must fulfill the following conditions:

1) To complete the attached “Application Form” and send the scanned version of the document by e-mail to the contact person from the SAS Department of International Cooperation

2) To send a short CV (up to 2 pages in A4 format) containing the research profile of the applicant, the name of the host institution in Scotland and the justification for the need to establish cooperation with it within the framework of the intended exchange visit.

3)  To send a Support Letter from the host institution in Scotland. All documents mentioned in points 2 and 3 must also be scanned and sent by e-mail to the address of the contact person from SAS.

  • The applications will be evaluated by the SAS Commission for Foreign Relations, which will select the successful applicant for a 14-day exchange visit in Scotland.
  • The applications containing all the abovementioned necessary documents must be sent no later than October 21, 2026, to the email address of the contact person listed below:
