The call is intended to support bilateral research projects across all scientific disciplines, with a particular welcome for proposals from the Humanities and Social Sciences. Proposal submission will be open from 1 April to 22 May 2026.
The Department of International Cooperation informs about the upcoming announcement of the 18th call of the joint research programme JRP SAS – NSTC, intended for the submission of joint research projects carried out in partnership between the Slovak Academy of Sciences (SAS) and The National Science and Technology Council in Taiwan (NSTC).
The aim of the call is to support bilateral projects in the field of basic and applied research between the partner institutions. The implementation of these projects is expected to create a foundation for the subsequent submission of joint project proposals within European and other international funding schemes.
The call will be open to applicants from all scientific disciplines without thematic restrictions. Project proposals from the Humanities and Social Sciences are particularly encouraged.
The eligibility conditions will be defined separately by both funding organisations in their respective parallel call announcements.
Only an employee of the Slovak Academy of Sciences with an employment contract exceeding 50% with the organisation submitting the project proposal may apply as the Principal Investigator (PI). Unless specified otherwise in the call conditions, other project team members (except PhD candidates) must hold an employment contract either with the same SAS organisation or with another SAS institute.
The duration of the projects is set at 12 to 36 months.
Research teams from the Slovak Academy of Sciences will be able to apply for funding of up to EUR 120,000 for a three‑year period.
By Resolution No. 253.C of 11 February 2026, the Presidium of the Slovak Academy of Sciences allocated funds for the support of two projects. Funding for a third project may be made available if it concerns a project in the field of the Humanities or Social Sciences.
