Every June, a call for submission of joint Slovak – German projects are issued.
In 2001, the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), the Ministry of Education, Science, Research and Sport of the Slovak Republic (MŠVVaŠ SR) and the Slovak Academy of Sciences (SAV) agreed on a joint programme aimed at intensifying scientific cooperation. The aim is to support cooperation between German and Slovak research groups through the Programmes for Project-Related Personal Exchange (Programm des projektbezogenen Personenaustauschs – PPP). Within the framework of research cooperation, increased emphasis is placed on further education and specialisation of the young scientific generation (graduates, doctoral students and postdoctoral students). The Programme is open to all specialisations and directions.
The offer is intended for university teachers and scientists at German and Slovak universities and non-university research institutes (in the case of the Slovak Academy of Sciences, only SAS research institutes).
The applicant is the person responsible for the project.
On the Slovak side, the applicant is a full-time scientific and pedagogical worker or a leading researcher at a university or SAS research institute.
The DAAD will receive funding for the implementation of the Programme from the budget of the Federal Ministry for Education, Science and Research (BMBF). On the Slovak side, the Programme is funded by the MŠVVaŠ SR and the SAS.
The prerequisite for submitting the application is a specific scientific project (or objective), on which scientists from both countries are working together. The scientific objective of the project within the framework of German-Slovak cooperation (subject-matter, topicality, achievable partial objectives) must be presented in detail in the application.
Only living expenses related to the exchange of participating scientists, postgraduate students can be reimbursed.
The basic financing of the project (personal and material costs on both sides) must be provided from other means. Side costs linked to the project research (costs of materials, etc.) cannot be reimbursed.
The total duration of support for the German-Slovak project is a maximum of two years.
The maximum duration of support to cover living expenses within one stay is 1 month for researchers, 2 months for students, graduates and doctoral students.
