The Slovak Academy of Sciences opens a call for submission of joint bilateral SAV – DAAD scientific cooperation projects for the years 2024 – 2025.

General Conditions:
- A joint exchange programme for scientists and university teachers between the Ministry of Education, Science, Research and Sport of the Slovak Republic, the Slovak Academy of Sciences and the German Academic Exchange Service (Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst – DAAD).
- The programme is open to all specialisations and fields of study, it is a mobility programme.
- The applicant from the Slovak Academy of Sciences must find a German partner organisation to submit the project.
- The amount of support in the SAV is €4,000 per project team for one year. For two years it is a total of €8,000.
- Only travel, subsistence and meal expenses related to the travel of Slovak scientists in Germany can be covered. Insurance, public transport in Germany are also eligible costs.
- The applicant is the person responsible for the project, in addition to the principal investigator, there can be a maximum of 2 other investigators.
- The duration of the projects is limited to 2 years, with no possibility of extension.
- The project proposal must be submitted by the principal investigators of the teams on both sides, online.
- ATTENTION, the deadline on the Slovak and German side are DIFFERENT!!!!
- The projects will be evaluated by independent evaluators and the relevant committee separately on the German and Slovak side. The final decision is the responsibility of a joint committee between DAAD, SAV and the Ministry of Education and Science of the Slovak Republic.
- The decision on the number of projects to be supported depends on the possibilities of the DAAD and the quality of the projects submitted. SAV can fund a maximum of 4 projects per year.
- In particular, the content of the project, the consistency between the stated objectives and the results of the project, the overall impact of the project, the added value of the mutual bilateral cooperation and the quality of the research group (inclusion of young researchers) will be assessed.
- At least 1/3 of the team must be made up of young researchers or PhD students.
- Project proposals must be submitted in English by the deadline exclusively via the intranet online application form with the uploaded attachment – Application form SAV – DAAD.
- In order to submit a project proposal, it is first necessary to download the Application form DAAD-SAS from the call for proposals, fill in the whole form (in agreement with the partner institution), save it on your computer in pdf format. Then you need to log in to the SAV intranet, select the SAV-DAAD call and fill in the online short application form, to which you upload the pdf attachment – Application form DAAD-SAS. Once entered and submitted, the project proposal will be forwarded to the director/director of your SAV institute for approval. The project proposal approved by the Director will be automatically forwarded to the International Cooperation Department of the SAS Office. All project proposals must be approved/submitted by the Director(s) of the SAV Institutes by 15 July 2023.
